My Year of Change

Uncategorized

April 8, 2017

My Year of Change, and Why My Business Name is Staying the Same.

This past year has been filled with a rollercoaster of emotions for me, both in business and my personal life. We moved to South Carolina a little over 2 years ago, so last year was my first full year of traveling for wedding season as well as trying to expand my business south. It was exhilarating and at times, exhausting. I captured 25 weddings, attended 3 personal weddings, was a bridesmaid AND we got married… ALL in 2016. It was a year filled with so many laughs, tears and moments I will forever hold tight to my heart. As I sit here and reflect on what a whirlwind the past year has been I can’t help but remember back to sixteen year old me who knew in her heart that she had a calling that was bigger than herself. Growing up my parents hung two wedding portraits at the bottom of our stairs, the only portraits they have from their wedding day. Gosh, I am tearing up now as I write this… The photographers camera malfunctioned on their wedding day so they only have those two images to look back on and remember how they felt that day. A bridal portrait of my mother and one of them cutting their cake- thats all they have. Its heartbreaking and its my why. Why I have poured so much of my heart into this business, why I give so much love to all my couples & why I refuse to let comparison to other photographers diminish the importance of the images I capture.

LMP is a reflection of the girl who used to lay in the backyard with her point & shoot camera taking images of wildflowers, the girl who struggled with finding her place in art school and didn’t know if photography was really her calling after all and the girl who dreamed of having a love story like her parents. A love story that blossomed from her dad buying orange tic-tacs.

LMP bears my heart and soul – it has been my saving grace when I needed it. This business reflects the heart of a girl who had the biggest dreams of traveling and capturing love stories, the girl who used to force her friends to pose for her to grow her portfolio, the girl who promised her parents that their MICA investment would pay off one day. This business means more to me than just capturing weddings, its been my whole life. Its been a timeline of who I was and who I am becoming as a woman, wife, daughter, sister & friend.

So, even though I am a married woman now and I am officially a Gnip, our business name will remain Lauren Myers Photography to honor and preserve our why. To always strive to provide families with timeless portraits that their children can adore as they come down the stairs years after the wedding day has passed. Its truly a honor to be the one to capture such precious moments for my couples and I don’t take the responsibility lightly. Thanks for stopping by my little piece of the internet today! Just wanted to share a little bit of my heart with everyone… Happy Saturday! xo
